One source for listings of dance performances in the DC area.
I’m taking advantage of a new wordpress feature: the Sticky Post. This post will remain at the top of the blog for the time being, and I will continue to update it as needed. If you don’t see your event/page listed here, please feel free to add a comment below.
Don’t miss the Edgeworks Dance Theater at Dance Place, November 7-9, with the DC premiere of the determining factor (which I saw in previews and give two thumbs up to) and Gotham Suite.
The Washington Post Fall Arts agenda covers events all over the metro area. Click on ‘browse dance listings’ for upcoming performances.
Dance/Metro DC keeps a pretty comprehensive listing of area performances, including things that might not necessarily show up on the WaPo’s radar. I also recommend signing up for their e-newsletter.
Be sure to check out the dance season at George Mason University. As always, they have a world-class lineup. The season starts October 10.
As always, the Kennedy Center has a dizzying array of options for both ballet and contemporary dance. Make sure to take advantage of the free offerings from the Millenium Stage, every day at 6pm.
Washington Performing Arts Society kicks their dance season off with Savion Glover on Oct. 16.
Dance Place is a wonderfully intimate venue with year-round performances, classes, and master classes.
Although not a comprehensive listing, check the Jack Guidone Theater at Joy of Motion weekly for the next performance.
Liz Lerman Dance Exchange has a number of performances throughout the community.

Cool! Is there any way to print these listings? Or is it already available in print? I hope it’s not just in today’s paper or something, cause I won’t be there until Saturday …

No clue. I imagine they were in the print version of the post a few days ago. At any rate, that section on the online version is updated frequently so it would be your most up to date source. That and I highly recommend subscribing to the Metro Dance/DC weekly performances newsletter http://www.dancemetrodc.org/front/signup_enews.php

Done. I can’t believe I’m actually here now! I’m going to set up a corkboard with clippings of upcoming events and such … the only problem is I don’t have a printer, so I can’t include stuff I found online. And I’m too scatterbrained at the moment to remember anything if it’s not all in one place
I’ll figure it out eventually.
And I already know I want to see the Suzanne Farrell Ballet. Are you interested in seeing that? If you are, and if you’d want to go with me and my roommate (if I can talk him into it), let me know somehow.
