I returned today from the Miami Salsa Congress. It was fun and relaxing. The congress was held at a beachside resort on Miami Beach, so you could spend all day at the beach or the pool and dance in the evenings without going anywhere. We only did the evening events for this congress– no way was I going to be stuck inside when the beach was only steps away!

Although many of the performances were enjoyable (particularly on Saturday night), the best part of a congress to me is the social dancing. DC has a great scene but I often feel like I am in a rut dancing with the same people all the time. Each city has its own salsa personality, and it is so refreshing and invigorating to dance with people from other parts of the country and the world.
