Tonight we’re going to see Echo Park’s Dance Place debut. Choreographed by Cedric Tillman and directed by Rasta Thomas. Featuring solo performances by Oscar Hawkins, Shallom Johnson, Kelly Mayfield, Shylo Martinez, and Rasta Thomas it’s at 8pm at Dance Place. I am really excited to see this company as I been able to see them grow their organization over the last few months.

Tickets are $22 but Cedric and Kenneth alerted me to a service called Goldstar, which provides half price or reduced tickets for different cultural events in a number of metropolitan areas. They are offering tickets for tonight’s performance at $10 (plus a $4 service charge– but even with that it’s still cheaper than Dance Place’s standard student discount), which is a really good deal.

Click on this link to sign up for Goldstar and get those $10 tickets for tonight’s performance.

I saw some other really good deals on there like $19 tickets to Hairspray at the Warner Theater and $49 tickets to The Washington National Opera’s The Flying Dutchman. This is not just for DC: many major metro areas were listed on the site. It’s also not just for cultural events– you can get the hookup on sports and tourist type events as well.

Another option for saving money on tickets (if you are a dance student or  arts professional) is Dance Metro/DC’s Dance Pass. I just got mine and am excited about the discounts you can get with it. They email a list out periodically with the offers that are available to Dance Pass holders.
